The Deacs are back in action this week with a chance to get back in the win column after falling to Richmond this weekend. The 49ers come to town with just 2 wins, a 64-66 win over Oklahoma State (they won on a banked three at the buzzer after trailing by 24 points) and a 42-39 win over Longwood (Ron Sanchez’s time under Tony Bennett is already evident). This game will likely come down to the battle at the point guard position. Jon Davis for Charlotte is averaging 20.3 points, 3.8 assists, and 4.5 rebounds in 37.5 minutes per game. He may be one of the only point guards in the nation averaging more minutes per game than Brandon Childress ( A little research showed that Davis and Ky Bowman from BC are tied for 8th in the nation in mpg while Childress is 10th). Keeping Davis from getting in the paint at will and having one of those far too common career days against Wake Forest should be the key to beating the Niners.
