Drelyn Ford is an all-state basketball player out of Franklin, VA, and now he is officially a member of the Wake Forest football team after signing his National Letter of Intent today.
The three-star is the 86th ranked tight end in the nation and he joins Cameron Hite as the only other TE in the class.
Ford chose Wake Forest over Old Dominion, and much like we have seen with some other guys in this recruiting cycle, actually decommitted from the Monarchs on October 2nd before committing to Wake Forest the same day.
It was clear from his interview with Les after he picked Wake that he was waiting on the offer from the staff and really wanted to come to Winston-Salem.
Ford played wide receiver and defensive end for Franklin High School this year as well, but his height (6-5) and athleticism is really what makes him such an appealing recruit.
The Deacs obviously use the tight end position a lot, and in big spots too, as we saw with Jack Freudenthal’s fantastic touchdown to upset N.C. State earlier this season.
Welcome to Wake Forest Drelyn! We are excited to have you here and into the Old Gold and Black!
