Defensive end Will Smart out of Morristown, NJ signed his National Letter of Intent today to officially become a Wake Forest Demon Deacon.
Smart is a 6-4, 250 pound defensive end out of Delbarton School in New Jersey and held offers from North Carolina, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, and Western Michigan. He committed to Wake Forest back in May, but other schools continued to pursue him well into the winter. He shut down the notion last week that he would wind up anywhere other than Wake Forest, as he stuck to his original commitment.
He is a three-star ranked player according to the 247Sports Composite Ranking. He is the 112th ranked defensive end in the class and the 40th ranked player in the state of New Jersey. Dave Cohen was the point player on this recruitment, and Smart is one of just two 2019 Wake Forest signees to hail from above the Mason-Dixon Line.
Smart will bring a big body to the defensive end position and add a lot of depth to a position that Wake Forest likes to rotate a lot throughout the year.
Welcome to Wake Forest Will!
