Pro-style Quarterback Michael Kern signed with Wake Forest today and will join a crowded Quarterback room with Sam Hartman and Jamie Newman for the 2019 football season.
Kern is a 6-1, 170 pounds quarterback out of Orlando, Florida. He chose the Demon Deacons over offers from 17 other schools including Toledo, Akron, Southern Miss, Temple, and others. Ranked as a three-star by 247 Sports, he is the 48th ranked Pro-style quarterback in the nation, the 188th ranked recruit for the state of Florida, and the 1,385th ranked recruit in the nation.
Just committed to play football for Wake Forest Univ! Couldn’t pass up the opportunity academically for my future. Excited to be a Deacon. pic.twitter.com/x3HL1jNOBu

He was recruited by the Wake Forest staff and looks to probably redshirt to learn behind Hartman and Newman for a season.
Kern committed to Wake Forest in June of 2018 and has been excited for the academic aspect of playing for the Deacs as well.
Kern seems to show off good touch and better than expected athleticism. While listed as a “pro-style” QB, Kern has some interesting runs off-script in his highlights.
More than likely, Kern is a strong candidate for a redshirt as Sam Hartman and Jamie Newman are likely to be back.
Welcome to Wake Forest Michael, we’re happy to have you.
