Offensive Lineman CJ Elmonus signed with Wake Forest today and will join a revamped offensive line. Most likely a tackle, Elmonus will have an opportunity to learn from OT Justin Herron for the 2019 football season.
Elmonus is a 6-7, 260 pounds offensive lineman out of Asheville, North Carolina. He chose the Demon Deacons over a strong offer from Miami (FL). Ranked as a three-star by 247Sports, he is the 102nd ranked OT in the nation, the 52nd ranked recruit overall out of North Carolina, and the 1,238th ranked recruit in the nation.
I am very excited to announce that I am verbally committing to continue playing football and furthering my education at Wake Forest University‼️ I thank god for all my blessings #GoDeacs pic.twitter.com/UzP573Sp5g— CJ Elmonus (@CElmonus) March 21, 2018
He was recruited by Nick Tabacca. More than likely, like most OL in the Wake Forest program, Elmonus will look to fill out his massive frame and add a bunch of good weight from his 260 frame.
I’d be surprised to see Elmonus add enough weight to have a consistent role in 2019 but similar to the veteran group currently, Elmonus could be a stud for 3-4 years after putting on good college weight.
Welcome to Wake Forest CJ, we are excited to have you in the Old Gold and Black!
