Inside Linebacker Chase Jones signed with Wake Forest this morning, adding much needed depth to a linebacking corps that was decimated by injuries this season.
Jones is a 6-2, 215 pound LB out of Jersey City, New Jersey who played his four years of high school football at St. Peters Prep. He chose Wake Forest over offers from Army, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, Fordham, UMass, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Yale. He is ranked as a three star recruit by 247 Sports and is listed as the 63rd best ILB in the class and the 33rd best player out of New Jersey. Jones committed to the Deacs on July 26th.

He was recruited primarily by Linebacker’s Coach Brad Sherrod.
In his 3 years playing varsity for the Marauders, Jones recorded 147 total tackles (5.3 tackles per game), 1.5 sacks, and 3 interceptions, according to his MaxPreps page.
From everything I’ve read, Jones is the exact type of player Dave Clawson is looking for to represent Wake Forest. You can check out his senior season highlights below.
I have no idea if Jones will redshirt in the 2019 season, but as this year showed, you can never have too many linebackers.
Welcome to Wake Forest Chase, we are excited to have you in the Old Gold and Black and look forward to watching you develop over the next several years.
