With QB Sam Hartman out for the rest of the season, Demon Deacon fans were anxious to see who would get the nod as the starter the rest of the way. The case was made for the “vet” in Kendall Hinton (case made here) while others were hoping for Jamie Newman (case made here).
With the depth chart released, the answer is pointing towards Newman, the redshirt sophomore.
At quarterback for Wake Forest on today's depth chart for the NC State game is Jamie Newman, Kendall Hinton and then Matthew Considine. In that order, no 'or.'

Newman is atop the depth chart with no “or” designation with Kendall Hinton. In a bit of a unique situation, walk-on quarterback Matthew Considine made the three-deep for the signal caller spot.
In addition to getting the backup job, Hinton has disappeared from the other spots (slot receiver and kick returner).
Kendall Hinton has disappeared on the depth chart at slot receiver and kick returning, seemingly indicating his practice efforts will be focused at the QB position.

In minor news, Mike Allen makes an appearance as a third defensive end after making his debut against Syracuse and Keegan Good continues to be listed in the two-deep.
Depth chart musings, aside from the massive one at QB:
— Conor O'Neill (@ConorONeillWSJ) November 6, 2018
- Kendall Hinton No. 2 QB, Matthew Considine 3rd
- Keegan Good still backup CB to Amari Henderson
- Boogie Basham listed as starter at DE (he was last week, too, bit didn't play)
The Deacs will have to rally around Newman for the rest of the way to keep their bowl game streak alive however, my bold prediction is that Newman won’t start all of the remaining games.
