Wake Forest hosts the Western Carolina Catamounts at Joel Coliseum tonight as the Deacs try to rebound from a loss to Houston Baptist last Friday.
Western Carolina is under the leadership of first year head coach Mark Prosser, the son of Wake Forest’s beloved former coach the late Skip Prosser.
Here’s how the BSD staff thinks the Deacs will do after we all incorrectly predicted a win against Houston Baptist.

This is a perfect opportunity to regain the confidence back in the Deacons locker room. Having lost in upsetting dramatics to a blowout against Saint Joseph and a nail-biter against Houston Baptist, the team can very well capitalize on their lower-school woes with a game against Western Carolina. The Catamounts haven’t gotten off to a greater start themselves, boasting a 2-5 record. With no real scorers to cause major concern, this is a game that the Deacons shouldn’t, and for confidence sake, can’t lose. I expect a hungry team ready to put on a show at home.

After a humiliating loss to Houston Baptist, the Deacs look to get back on track. After getting slayed on all social media platforms, the young guys play harder and get a coveted win to try and reduce the sour taste of the loss.

Despite the inexcusable loss to Houston Baptist on Friday, I still believe that Wake will take care of Western Carolina tomorrow night. The Catamounts are 324th in KenPom and Wake is currently a 16 point favorite. It did play Charleston close back on November 10th, ultimately falling 77-74, but that was in Cullowhee. Along the same lines as what should have happened against HBU, I believe Hoard will have a big game (which he did against the Huskies too), and Sarr will break out of his shell.

Having just suffered an embarrassing loss, the Deacs will be extra focused and play twice as hard in this one so that doesn’t happen again.
Rob
Wake Forest 80-Western Carolina 60
As bad and unacceptable as the Houston Baptist game was, Wake Forest should still dominate Western Carolina. WCU is ranked 324th in Ken Pom, and has no size whatsoever. They cannot rebound, and they turn the ball over in abundance. Wake should be able to clean up on the glass, and generate a lot of points via shots inside the paint and at the charity stripe. If Wake doesn’t come out with better energy after what happened on Friday, whoo boy.

Wake plz win.

I think we blow them out, but I also don’t really care.

First of all, it’s always great to have anybody related to Skip Prosser back in the building. I wish Mark nothing but the best, and I still maintain that Wake has never been the same since Skip’s untimely death. But in this game, Mark’s team is simply too small and not nearly as talented. While I have no doubt that as Skip’s son Mark Prosser can coach circles around Danny Manning, the talent level of Wake is highly superior so the Deacs should take care of business this time. Look for Jaylen Hoard to continue his dominance against the smaller Catamounts. If Olivier Sarr is ever going to break out of his slump, this game is the one.
