Louisville Opens as a 1.5 Point Favorite Over Wake Forest

It has been a season to forget for both teams so far in 2018

The Louisville Cardinals (2-5, 0-4) opens as a 1.5 point favorite over Wake Forest (3-4, 0-3) for the game next weekend. Both teams are seeking both its first conference win, as well as a first win over a Power 5 conference team in the 2018 season.

The game will kick off at 12 PM from Cardinal Stadium and will air on RSN.

Wake Forest got off to a hot start in Tallahassee yesterday, going up 10-0 before getting blitzed the rest of the way en route to a 38-17 loss to Florida State. Louisville was off this week on its bye.

The relationship between the Deacs and Cards has been tenuous at best, and there is no love lost between the fan bases following #Wakeyleaks. In last year’s matchup, Wake Forest jumped out to a 35-10 lead behind an absolutely massive performance behind Greg Dortch. Dorth was lost for the year during that game though too, so I am sure he would like to replicate that performance.

I hate the phrase “must-win”, but if Wake has any chance at getting to 6 wins then it included winning next weekend against the lowly Cardinals. The Cards are the second worst team in all of college football against the spread this year, and Wake is only one game better than they are, combining to go 2-11.

Louisville is 98th in the recently updated S&P+ rankings, while Wake is one spot worse at 99th. They rank last and second-to-last in the ACC.
