If the Crystal Ball Predictions at 247sports are to be believed, it seems that Wake Forest is in the driver’s seat for 2018 top 25 player Jaylen Hoard. Hoard picked up two more Crystal Ball predictions from the recruiting experts at the website in the past two days, including one from the “Director of Basketball Scouting” and head of the website Jerry Meyer.
Meyer has a 72% prediction percentage and is usually a guy who jumps on late to a pick once some big news hits or they have figured something out.
Hoard, a 6-8, 195, 4-star wing-man, just finished up at the EYBL Peach Jam and has headed back to his native France to spend some time there. He received an honorable mention for his play at the event, one of the best tournaments on the AAU circuit.
Here is a picture of him with the CP3 All-Stars (with the man himself, Chris Paul):
Every single prediction for Hoardfrom 247Sports has been for Wake Forest.
The top two schools listed are Wake Forest and Maryland. The Terrapins beat out Wake for the services of Aaron Wiggins last month. Wiggins and Hoard both play for Wesleyan Christian Academy.
In addition to having Chris Paul in his ear, current freshman Olivier Sarr spent a lot of time with him recently at the FIBA games, as they both hail from France.
This goes hand in hand in some tidbits that we have heard about the optimism the staff has surrounding Hoard and his interest in Wake Forest.
Landing Hoard would be an absolutely huge get for Danny Manning and the staff. It is setting up for a big 2018 class that could, with the assistance of the guys currently in the Old Gold and Black, really turn the tides for the future of Wake Forest basketball.
The staff has already secured a commitment from Sharone Wright, Jr, a 3-star point guard. It is also keeping close tabs on Jairus Hamilton, Isaiah Mucius, and Nate Laszewski to try to round out the 4-man class.
As always we will update you as soon as we hear anything else, so stay tuned to BSD for all your Wake Forest recruiting needs.
