In the fifth game of the season, the Deacons return home to take on the Seminoles in the game that kicks off the hardest part of the schedule. The Seminoles are a familiar opponent, but lets get a quick refresher on FSU anyways.

Team: Florida State Seminoles

Location: Tallahassee, FL.

Enrollment: 41,867

Conference: ACC

Home Stadium: Doak Campbell Stadium

Head Coach: Jimbo Fisher (8th Season, overall record of 78-17)

2016 Record: 10-3 (5-3 in ACC)

PPG: 35.1

PAPG: 25.0

Best Win: A 33-32 win over 6th ranked Michigan in the Orange Bowl

Worst Loss: Based on opponent their worst loss was a 37-35 loss to UNC at home, but it’s important that we not forget the 63-20 thrashing they took at Louisville on national television.

Vegas O/U: 9.5 -110

Florida State is a team that many people are picking to go undefeated in the conference and win the Atlantic Division. They have a talented young QB in Deondre Francois who threw for over 3300 yards and 20 TDs last season as a Freshman. This one will be a very tough game to win, but being at home should offer some help.

The Noles will be tested early, as they open the season with Alabama. We should be able to get a really good look at what to expect from them this season in that game. After that neutral site game, Florida State plays a string of 3 straight home games before traveling to Winston Salem. As we are their first true road game of the season, there is a chance we could catch the Noles unprepared and unfocused.

Like I said earlier, this one is going to be really tough to win. However, this could potentially be the first loss of the season, and if that is the case, the Deacs should still be in pretty good shape to make a bowl game again this season.
