The No. 13 ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons will host a regional in Winston-Salem this weekend (June 2nd-4th).

The four teams who will play in Winston this weekend are:

  1. Wake Forest (39-18)
  2. West Virginia (34-24)
  3. Maryland (37-21)
  4. UMBC (23-23)

As a refresher on how the college baseball postseason works, there are 16 regional hosts with 4 teams a piece playing in a double elimination tournament format.

The 16 teams that win the Regionals then play in the Super Regionals in a best of 3 series the following weekend.

Those 8 winners advance to Omaha for the official College World Series, which is another double-elimination format to determine the final two teams. The two teams then play a best-of-3 series to determine the National Champion.

The Deacs will open up against the No. 4 ranked UMBC on Friday night at 7 P.M. From there it will take on the winner of No. 2 West Virginia and No. 3 Maryland on Saturday.

Should the Deacs advance to the Super Regionals, it will take on the winner of the Gainesville Regional, hosted by Florida. That series will be played June 9th-12th.
