Wake Forest received the first “Crystal Ball” prediction for 2018 SF Jaylen Hoard today.
To explain a bit, 247Sports experts will issue “Crystal Balls” for their prediction as to where a recruit will ultimately end up going to school.
In theory they will do this based on information they have discerned from interviewing the player, coaches of the player, and coaching staffs of the NCAA teams recruiting the player.
This prediction was issued by Dylan Prezkop of “Next Up Recruits”. He has a 69% (nice) rate for the 2017 class, ranking him 4th on 247Sports Expert List.
Hoard, a 6-8 wing from Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, NC, has long been a player on the Wake Forest radar. He is one of the highest priorities for the Demon Deacons, and is one of five players that 247Sports lists as “Warm” (Isaiah Mucius, Drue Drinnon, John Newman, and Sharone Wright, Jr) for Wake.
In addition to an offer from Wake Forest, Hoard has received offers from California, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Providence, and Washington, and has been looked at by a handful of others (UNC. Duke, Louisville. Maryuland, Arizona).
Hoard is ranked as the 31st player in the Class of 2018 (coincidentally the same ranking ‘17 signee Chaundee Brown holds from ESPN).
As Ned has written in the past, the 2018 class is shaping up to be a huge one for Wake Forest, as the Deacs will look to take 3-4 top 100 players.
I still believe John Newman (3-star SG) will commit to Wake first, but there are plenty of spots open.
This is a huge step in there right direction, and should Wake land Hoard, it would be enticing for Mucius and Drinnon/Wright, Jr. to follow.
