Another week, another heap of offers for the Deacs. This week it seems that the staff is prioritizing the linebacker and receiver positions for the 2018 class. Let’s just jump straight into the offers, all of which are for the 2018 class.

Tyler Harrell is a 6-0, 165lb wide receiver out of Columbus HS in Miami, Florida. He is rated as a 3-star player by 247 sports and has competing offers from Illinois, UCF, Cincinnati, UAB, FAU, Bowling Green, App, Syracuse, and Tulane. He runs a 4.51 40 yard dash and has a vertical jump of 34.7”.

Samuel Oshodi is a 5-11, 170lb wide receiver playing at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is rated as a 3-star recruit by Rivals. The Deacs will be up against FAU, Illinois, Oregon, USF, and UCF. Clawson has had success in the past stealing recruits from Oregon (see: Zander Zimmer), so we’ll see what he can do with Oshodi.

Matthew Flint plays linebacker at Madison County High School in Montgomery, Alabama. He stands at 6-0, 213lb and is rated as a 3-star recruit by 247sports. He currently has offers from Louisville, Memphis, Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Western Kentucky. The Deacs are going up against some big time SEC football schools for Flint, so landing him will likely be a tough task.

Kevontae’ Ruggs is also a linebacker and plays at Robert E Lee High School in Montgomery, Alabama. He is listed at 6-4 and rated as a 3-star recruit by Scout. He is being pursued by Louisville, UCF, Illinois, Maryland, FAU, Ole Miss, WVU, WKU, and Alabama. It would be extremely impressive if Clawson could steal a recruit from Saban from his state. The odds of that happening are probably pretty low, but a wise man once said: “Never tell me the odds.”

Nick DeNucci is a linebacker out Pope John XXIII High School in Sparta, New Jersey. He stands at 6-1, 230lb and is rated as a 3-star recruit by 247sports. He has competing offers from WVU, Navy, Army, Louisville, Temple, Pitt, Maryland, BC, Syracuse and Rutgers. 247 has 2 crystal ball predictions that predict DeNucci will commit to Rutgers, with one of said experts accurately predicting almost 70% of the time. That doesn’t mean anything is set in stone, but it sounds like DeNucci may become a Scarlet Knight sometime soon.

Calvin Hart Jr. is a linebacker (did I mention the staff was focusing on LBs this week?) who plays at American Heritage School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is listed at 6-2, 200lb and rated as a 3-star recruit by Scout. Wake Forest will be up against Iowa, Pitt, Memphis, NC State, Iowa State, Syracuse, Wisconsin, and Colorado in their pursuit of Hart.

Rashod Bateman is a 6-3, 175lb athlete out of Tifton County High School in Tifton, Georgia. He is not rated, but has offers from Marshall, Tulane, Georgia Southern, Troy, and Louisville. Bateman is 2 sport athlete who has at least 1 scholarship offer to play basketball from Penn State. I am unsure at this point whether he has decided to play football or basketball in college, but if he commits to Wake, he and Sage will definitely need to get in a game of 1 on 1.
