David Hale of ESPN.com released his post-Spring Power Rankings for the ACC, which has the Wake Forest Demon Deacons as the 10th ranked team. Wake is ranked 5th in the Atlantic, above Boston College and Syracuse, but below Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, and N.C. State.
The biggest thing that jumps out to me in these rankings is N.C. State at 5th in the conference. It is pretty clear that the ACC Atlantic Division is the hardest in college football, while the Coastal lags far behind.
The Florida State Seminoles headlines the rankings, while the defending champion Clemson Tigers come in second. Miami is the highest ranked Coastal Division team, coming in at 3rd.
The tenth place ranking for the Deacs feels a little bit low to me, but I think it’s more of a reflection of how strong the ACC is (particularly the Atlantic), than a knock on Wake Forest.
He notes that the offense for Wake has a lot of questions, while the loss of Brad Watson and Marquel Lee could spell out trouble for the defense.
What do you guys think, too high, too low, or just right?
