Wake Forest assistant coach Brett Ballard has accepted the head coaching job at Washburn University according to a tweet from the Washburn University Basketball Twitter page:
.@WashburnMBB: Brett Ballard named 15th coach in Washburn program history #GoBods https://t.co/fHQO6zhC7O
— Washburn Athletics (@wusports) April 6, 2017
Ballard was hired by Danny Manning in April of 2014, and was also an assistant with Manning at Tulsa.
He has previously been a head coach at Baker University, where he led the team to an NAIA tournament berth in 2011-12.
Ballard also played under current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams for two seasons as a walk-on, and then served on the staff with him in multiple capacities for over 5 years.
He was the main recruiter on incoming freshman Chaundee Brown.
We at Blogger So Dear wish Coach Ballard the best at the Washburn Ichabods, a member of Division II within the NCAA. T hey play in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.
It will be very interesting to see who Coach Manning goes after to fill this role. There has been a lot of chatter throughout the past couple of years of getting an older, experienced coach to help manage the in-game coaching.
