The NFL draft came to a close on Saturday, and though Marquel Lee was the only Demon Deacon who heard his name called, he will be joined in the NFL by 2 of his former teammates. DL Josh Banks and CB Brad Watson have signed as undrafted free agents with the New York Giants and the Los Angeles Chargers respectively.
Watson finished his senior year with the Deacs with 63 total tackles, 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and 6 passes defended. He joins a Chargers team that gave up almost 4,000 yards and 21 touchdowns through the air last season.
Blesssed to be with the @Chargers ⚡️⚡️⚡️

Josh Banks finished out his senior season with 34 total tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and 1 forced fumble. He joins a Giants defense that gave up 339 yards and just 17.8 points per game.
Congrats to Wake DT Josh Banks who agreed to terms as a free agent with the New York Giants ! Hard work pays off ! I'm happy for you josh

While hearing their name called in the draft is certainly something probably all players dream of, it should be noted that it is not necessary in order to have a successful career in the NFL. Players like Tony Romo, Wes Welker, Arian Foster and Antonio Gates all made the Pro Bowl and have had fantastic NFL careers despite not being taken in the draft. Best of luck to Brad Watson and Josh Banks as they look to continue their football careers!
