Terell Smith is a four star 6-0, 175 lb cornerback out of South Gwinnett High School in Snellville, Georgia.
He originally committed to Minnesota on March 10th, 2017. He has also been offered recently by Michigan State. He held prior offers from Indiana, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Ole Miss, and Purdue.
According to 247Sports, he is the 61st ranked CB in the Class of 2018.
Below is a highlight tape from his junior season at South Gwinnett:
Smith’s speed is definitely one of his biggest assets, as he is able to keep up with almost any receiver he covers.
He also is a member of the track team at South Gwinnett, and is really good at the 100 meter dash. Below is a link to a video of him running the 100:
Wake Forest could certainly use his speed in the secondary, and potentially on kick returns as well.
Cornerback is always a position of need for the Deacs, and Smith looks like someone we definitely want in our secondary!
This one is particularly interesting because the current Wake defensive coordinator Jay Sawvel almost certainly knew about Smith while coaching at Minnesota. The offer was extended by Dave Cohen.
