Last week we wrote a Draft Profile on Wake Forest linebacker Marquel Lee. He will likely hear his name called this weekend in the Draft. Another candidate to get drafted this weekend is former Wake Forest cornerback Brad Watson.
The 6-0, 200 pound cornerback out of Round Rock, Texas was an Honorable Mention All-ACC player this year for Dave Clawson.
He put together 63 tackles as a senior, and 161 over a four year career. He also forced two fumbles and intercepted two passes as a senior, along with 6 pass deflections. While that was a drop-off from 2015’s 16 pass deflections, a lot of that was opposing quarterbacks choosing to pick on the other corner spot.
If he is drafted, Watson will almost certainly be in the later rounds on Saturday afternoon. If he doesn’t hear his name called then he will likely be picked up as a UFA shortly afterwards. This can sometimes work out even better than getting drafted, so it’s not a bad thing at all.
Watson demonstrated great awareness while at Wake Forest and was a solid zone player. Based on his skills, a change to safety may be in the cards if he wants to catch on in the NFL.
Regardless we will be watching this weekend in hopes of hearing Brad’s name called to fulfill a lifelong dream!
