Tayvon Bowers, quarterback of the Bishop McDevitt Crusaders in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, released a letter to the fans of Wake Forest, asking them to be ready and committed to him as he has been to them. As one of the featured quarterbacks in the show, QB1: Beyond the Lights, Bowers’ senior was part of a “Friday Night Lights” type documentary.
Sadly, during his senior year and documentary, Bowers suffered a torn ACL and meniscus. As detailed in the letter, at one point Bowers considered it to be “career threatening”.
The only thing that crossed my mind was a terrifying thought: Damn, my football career could be over … forever.
Bowers decided to take a grayshirt, keeping his eligibility clock intact until the 2018 season, allowing him to rehab and start his college career with a healthy knee.
That being said, it’s great to see how committed this young man is to Wake. Let’s see how his career unfolds.
So I guess if there’s one message I want my fellow Demon Deacons to hear, it’s this: I hope you’re 100% committed to me, because I’m 100% committed to you. We have a lot of work to do, but I’m not scared of a challenge. Actually, it’s the complete opposite.
I’m prepared for one.
