This article is written solely for the purpose of documenting a fleeting moment in time that the Wake Forest Demon Deacons football team is ranked ahead of the mighty Alabama Crimson Tide football team in the 2018 football recruiting class.
Read it and weep folks, according to 247Sports, Wake Forest is currently ranked 20th in the country following the commitment of safety Peyton Woulard to Mother So Dear. I couldn't help but notice the team ranked in 21st was none other than the powerhouse Alabama!
Wake Forest currently has 6 commits for the class of 2018, while Alabama has only managed 4 commits. We can ignore the fact that the average commit for the Crimson Tide is ranked at 91.22, while the Demon Deacons average is 84.65, because that’s not the point of this article at all.
We tried to contact Nick Saban for a comment on this, but he was reportedly inconsolable in his Tuscaloosa mansion surrounded by his National Championship trophies.
The most concerning part about all of this is that both teams are attempting to chase down the Kansas Jayhawks, who currently rank 16th in the 2018 recruiting class.
I think the path from here is pretty crystal clear, it’s time for Wake Forest to start winning those natty titles. If we can rank above Alabama in recruiting then we can pretty much do anything on the gridiron.
As of today there will be no more “Roll Tide” slogans, as children across America wake up to their new football overlords in Wake Forest. From now on the utterance of choice for affirmation in group settings will be “Get Big You Hairy Deacs”. Easy enough to remember, and really slides off the tongue well.
