Adam: Wake Forest wins 78-74
The Deacs finally have a really good chance at getting into the tourney, and a win on Saturday should all but seal the deal. Knowing that, the Deacs play an incredible game and pick up a huge win.
Chris: Virginia Tech wins 80-78
Tech wins in a heartbreaker. Wake, coming off a huge win, has a letdown performance from their guards. In spite of another in a long stretch of John Collins great performances, Tech holds off a late Wake run to win it on the free throw line at the end.
Grumpy: Virginia Tech wins 90-83
Wake scores pretty well and dominates the paint, but VT lights it up from deep and probably sets some kind of 3 point scoring record. It may be close with a minute to play, but VT makes its free throws in crunch time and Wake has a couple late turnovers to seal the deal.
Rob: Wake Forest wins 88-85
I have serious questions about how some of our defenders will deal with Virginia Tech’s offense that has a lot of spacing and dribble penetration. That said, even though Virginia Tech has won 5 out of 6, that almost gives me confidence. The Hokies hit 10/20 3’s against Miami and only won by 5. Additionally they hit 12/22 3’s against Clemson and won by just a point. NC State was able to beat Virginia Tech by 26 points even though Tech made 13/30 3’s. They did this by dominating the glass and making 75% of shots from inside the arc. That needs to be the blueprint. Feed John Collins and Dinos down low all game, and then use that inside dominance to open up great looks from outside. There will be no shortage of offense in this one. A win will put Wake Forest in phenomenal position to make the NCAA Tournament. Let’s get it done.
Samurai: Wake Forest wins 80-70
John Collins proves to be too much, and Bryant Crawford and Keyhawn Woods continue to do their thing. VT keeps it close with threes but Wake destroys on the glass and comes away victorious.
What do you all think will happen in this afternoon’s contest?
