2017 Wake Forest Football Recruiting: Favorite Offensive Prospect

Part I of our roundtable series.

NCAA Football: Tulane at Wake Forest Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Question: Which offensive player are you most excited about?

Cam: Sage Surratt. It feels like a cop out given the fact that this guy has been putting up video game numbers IN TWO SEPARATE SPORTS, but he looks legit and has the feeling of someone who can break a game wide open with just one play the coming years.

Elijah: Christian Beal. The local kid is a different kind of running back/athlete than the players Wake currently utilizes. Beal has much more "shake" and if the offensive staff can be creative, Beal could emerge into a "do-it-all" threat.

Grumpy: Offensive player you're most excited about: Christian Beal. Wake has really stepped up its RB play in the past year, and we've got a handful of talented backs on the roster. That said, Beal is a local kid who was the first 2017 guy to commit to Wake all the way back in mid-2015. I appreciate that commitment and he's no slouch on the field either. I don't know how he'll fit into the lineup of running backs (I'd honestly expect a redshirt based on the roster) but I'm of the opinion that bringing in talented players to compete will help make everyone better.

Ned: Christian Beal- Anytime a player enrolls early at a skill position they have a great chance to contribute early in their career. Just look at the massive impact it had on Cade Carney's development into a 20 carry per game beast last season as a true freshman. Beal's highlights show he can make plays in a variety of different roles and I personally think he'll be in a position to get serious reps when camp opens up next summer.

Riley: I am most excited about the Tayvone Bowers, a 6-1, 215 pound dual-threat QB out of Pennsylvania. With Taylor Powell no longer in the picture it opens the door for Bowers to take over the team in a few years. He appears to have the skills to do that.

Rob: I’m going to go with Waydale Jones. He put up ridiculous numbers in the state of Texas and was named 1st-team all-state. He has outstanding size at 6’4”, and is capable of making defenders miss in space in addition to just going out and grabbing jump balls. It’s possible that he redshirts this year, but I believe he’ll make a big impact once he gets on the field.

We’ve given our picks. Which offensive player(s) are you all most excited about?
