Jake Simpson is a 6’2”, 215 pound linebacker out of Buford, Georgia. He is a consensus 3-star recruit on 247’s Composite Ranking and comes from a very good high school football program. His family has good football genes and his brother plays football at Army. Simpson had 97 tackles as a junior and was named honorable mention all-county.
Simpson will be an asset in run support, as he does a nice job of recognizing plays, squaring up to opposing backs, and finishing the tackle. He also played some tight end in high school and displayed more of his athleticism. I expect Simpson to redshirt this year, as is customary for most players under Dave Clawson, but expect him to give Wake nice depth at the position in the future.
Be sure to check out his highlights below. Please join me in officially welcoming Jake Simpson to Wake Forest!
