Chase Monroe, a linebacker out of Davidson Day, has signed with Wake Forest. He chose the Demon Deacons over offers from Mississippi State, Kentucky, and West Virginia. Monroe is a consensus 3-star prospect, and is the 23rd best inside linebacker in the country according to 247 Sports Composite.

In 2015, he was named 1st Team All-State and won a state championship while recording 129 tackles and 2 interceptions. He finished his senior season at Davidson Day with 204 tackles (18.5 tackles per game), 10 tackles for loss, and 4 forced fumbles. He also set a school record this season for tackles in a game with 36. On top of all of that, Monroe was named 2016 N.C. Defensive Player of the Year by USA Today. This is a great addition for the Wake Forest defense, and Wake Forest fans should be excited to see what Monroe will bring to the team in the next 4 years. Given the loss of Marquel Lee, it's entirely possible that he sees the field this fall as a true freshman.
