The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have opened as a 2.5-3 point favorite over Texas A&M in the Belk Bowl according to most online betting sites.
This is roughly in line with what I expected coming into the game. Although a couple of sites opened at Wake -6 to -7 yesterday, these lines seem to be closer to the norm across the board.
Wake Forest is ahead of Texas A&M in pretty much all of the “advanced metrics”:
Just for reference, here are a compilation of rankings of Wake vs. Texas A&M (it will surprise you):

The Athletic - Wake #42 Texas A&M #45
Massey -Wake #31 Texas A&M #44
Sagarin - Wake #29 Texas A&M 45
Football Study Hall (S&P) - Wake #36 Texas A&M #63
Despite the lack of knowledge from many Aggies on social media regarding who the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are and whether or not we had a football team, the Deacs are viewed as a field goal favorite by the folks who excel at building tall buildings in the middle of a desert.
Here are a few examples of the (feigned?) confusion of many Texas A&M fans upon hearing they would be traveling to Charlotte to take on Wake Forest:
Wake forest has a football team??

Will there be a basketball court at the Belk bowl? Not familiar with the Wake Forest Football team? #Gigem #AggieFootball

Even though there is a lot of consternation over who we are, the game will in fact go on as scheduled on December 29th at 1 PM.
Based on what I am hearing regarding ticket sales I would venture to guess that Aggies fans will have the chance to meet several thousand Demon Deacons if they so choose to in Charlotte at the end of the year.
