Dion Bergan Signs with Wake Forest

The Deacs have landed a 3* Florida DL with 20+ offers.

3* Florida-based Defensive Lineman Dion Bergan has officially signed with Wake Forest.

Bergan is rated by 247sports as the 132nd best DT in the nation and received nearly two dozen offers over the course of his high school career. His Wake offer came earlier this month prior to an Official Visit to campus that eventually led to a verbal commitment on December 10th.

In addition to Wake Forest, App State, Temple, Southern Miss, and USF all extended scholarships to Bergan in the 2018 recruiting cycle. A combination of academics, a family atmosphere, and the Deacs' recent on-field success were key factors in his decision to be one of the finishing pieces to Dave Clawson's 4th full recruiting class.

Bergan played his high school ball at Osceola, which is consistently one of the top programs in the state of Florida. He helped anchor a defense that allowed 20+ points only once all season long and was undefeated heading into the 8A State playoffs. Florida 8A Football is some of the best in the entire nation and produces a wave of Power 5 recruits every year. Needless to say, while the transition to the ACC will be a step up, Bergan has had plenty of experience playing against a top level competition over the last couple of years.

In conclusion, Dion seems like an absolute force on the defensive line that will thrive in Jay Sawvel's defense over the next couple of years given his size and athleticism. On top of all that, he seems completely thrilled to be a Demon Deacon, and for all these reasons I am incredibly excited he has officially joined the family. Welcome, Dion and Go Deacs!
