Head coach Dave Clawson didn’t have to go very far to get this commitment. All it took was a left turn onto Polo Road, and a right turn onto Petree Road to end up at Mount Tabor High School, home to the Spartans, and 2018 tight end Blake Whiteheart.
I am extremely blessed to announce my commitment to Wake Forest University... I'd like to thank my family, friends, and coach's. Go deacs pic.twitter.com/bWsMhpP4HJ

Based on tweets it seems that Whiteheart will be enrolling early to Wake.
Whiteheart is a two sport athlete, excelling in football and lacrosse. He is 6-4, 240 pounds and chose Wake Forest over offers from App State, Southern Miss, and Old Dominion. He had also received a lot of interest from in-state foes Duke, UNC, and N.C. State.
He is a 3 star prospect, ranked as the 66th best tight end in the nation, the 46th best player in North Carolina, and the 1496th best player nationally by 247sports.
This will help reinforce the tight end position for the next few years, as there was not a “true” tight end in the Class of 2017.
Below are Blake’s Hudl highlights:
Welcome Blake! We are glad you decided to stay in Winston-Salem and spend your college years at Wake Forest!
