The ACC announced today that Wake Forest will host N.C. State in Winston-Salem on November 18th in primetime on ESPNU at 7:30.
This will be one of the higher anticipated games between the two rivals in recent history, as both have put together solid seasons. N.C. State lost a game to Clemson this past weekend to effectively decide the Atlantic Division champion, but has defeated Louisville and Florida State this season.
The Wolfpack’s only losses have come to Notre Dame, Clemson, and South Carolina, while Wake’s four losses have come to Florida State, Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Notre Dame. Both teams have taken care of business against teams they should have defeated.
Currently N.C. State sits at 6-3, while Wake Forest is at 5-4. This weekend the Pack travels to Chestnut Hill to face an all of a sudden hot team in Boston College, and Wake travels to Syracuse to take on the Orange.
If Wake Forest does not clinch a bowl berth this weekend then it will add even more urgency to the game against N.C. State. Winston-Salem has been a house of horrors for the Pack recently, winning just one time this millennium (a 35-17 win in 2015).
It should be an electric atmosphere if the Deacs can get a win this week to get to 6-4 on the year before hosting a ranked in-state rival in N.C. State.
This kickoff time benefits greatly from the fact that multiple conference teams are stepping out of conference to take on FCS foes before the final week of the season. It is the only night game in the ACC scheduled for the 18th.
