Deac of the Week Nominees: Florida State

Vote between Dortch, Bates, and Yarbury for your choice for DOTW

NCAA Football: Florida State at Wake Forest Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

It’s that time again-time to vote for your Deac of the Week, this time from the Florida State game.

But before we get into the candidates for this week, let’s take a look at the winners from the first four weeks and how they have performed since now that we are just over a third of the way through the season.

Week 1 vs. Presbyterian: Greg Dortch. Dortch has continued to impress in his redshirt freshman campaign, and in fact you will see his name again later in this article.

Week 2 vs. Boston College: Cameron Glenn. Glenn hasn’t had the dominant defensive performance that he did against BC, but has held his own in the secondary against some tough receivers.

Week 3 vs. Utah State: Grant Dawson. Dawson is having a strong senior campaign, turning in 10 tackles (5 solo), a sack, and a forced fumble against Florida State on Saturday.

Week 4 vs. Appalachian State: Scotty Washington. While Scotty didn't block a field goal against FSU, he continues to be more involved in the passing game, hauling in two catches for 57 yards and barely missing a potential game-tying touchdown catch on the last play of the game.

Now for this week’s nominees:

Greg Dortch: Dortch had 10 catches for 110 yards,, 79 total return yards, and had easily his best game as a Deacon, despite it being the first game in his career where he didn’t score a touchdown.

Jessie Bates III: Bates had a team high 14(!) tackles, with 8 of them being solo, and 2 pass deflections.

Willie Yarbary: Yarbary had 4 tackles (2 solo), 2 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks.
