The 2016 college football season ended a couple of weeks ago, but it’s never too early to lookahead to the next full season. Today the ACC released the full schedule for each of their teams. Let’s take a look at the schedule and how it breaks down for Wake Forest:

September

(Thurs) August 31st: Presbyterian (2-9, NR)

September 9th: @ Boston College (7-6, 86th)

September 16th: Utah State (3-9, 70th)

September 23rd: @ Appalachian State Mountaineers (10-3, 40th)

September 30th: Florida State (10-3, 6th)

October

October 7th: @ Clemson (14-1, 2nd)

October 14th: BYE

October 21st: @ Georgia Tech (9-4, 45th)

October 28th: Louisville (9-4, 12th)

November

November 4th: @ Notre Dame Fighting Irish (4-8, 26th)

November 11th: @ Syracuse (4-8, 76th)

November 18th: N.C. State (7-6, 25th)

November 25th: Duke (4-8, 72nd)

December

December 2nd: ACC Championship (Charlotte, NC)

Overall 2016 record: 83-69 (55%)

The first part and the last part of the schedule is manageable, but somehow Wake got almost all of their hard games in the middle of the schedule. @App, FSU, and @Clemson is absolutely brutal to end September and start October. App will likely not be as good as they were this year, but still quite difficult.

After the bye, the Deacs travel to Atlanta to take on Georgia Tech before hosting Louisville, and then traveling to South Bend.

You can make an argument that Wake has their hardest 6 games on the schedule in a row starting with App State through Notre Dame.

From a tailgating standpoint it will be hard to get into much of a rhythm as there are no back-to-back weeks until the end of the year. We will manage, of course, to WIN THE TAILGATE, but schedule not doing us any favors either.

I think a repeat bowl trip is doable, but at least a 3-1 start will be much needed, and hopefully the team can bounce back from the middle stretch to close it out strong.

We will have an in-depth look at the schedule coming out later this week, but this is the first look at the schedule for Wake Forest in 2017.
