Wake Forest vs. North Carolina: BSD Staff Predictions

Adam: North Carolina Wins 86-74

The Tar Heels have some of the best guards in the country, and lately our defense has really struggled defending the guard position. The heels are also pretty deep in the post, and have several guys that can make things tough for John Collins on the inside, which of course will cause our offense to really struggle. Unc is one of the best teams in the nation in transition, so when wake starts shooting quick 3’s when things start going south, UNC is likely to blow the game open.

Cam: North Carolina wins 90-87

Ken Pom has this game as UNC by 6 which is promising in a sense and the Joel I have a feeling is going to be packed as this game has gotten an increasingly bigger buzz with the students over the past couple of days and there's no such thing as an easy road game in the ACC anymore. But I think the guard play from UNC is just enough to keep them ahead most of the game and avoid the upset.

Chris: Wake Forest wins 89-88

I'm not sure I even believe this. But I want to believe. Wake comes out scorching hot from three and keeps a lead until very late, finally figuring out how to hold off an opponent in the final ten minutes. We withstand bad officiating, bad rotations, and bad luck, and pull out a win.

Grumpy: North Carolina wins 82-78

Message boards are ablaze with people incredulous about the result and the terrible truth it reveals about the coaches and players. LOSING AT HOME TO A TEAM THAT HAS A DOUBLE DIGIT LOSS TO GEORGIA TECH?

Riley: Wake Forest wins 87-80

I'm definitely taking the Deacs. Time to break through and get Danny his signature win. Wake comes out en fuego from behind the arc, and we finally figure out how to keep a lead.

Rob: North Carolina wins 85-73

As badly as I want want our Deacs to get the W, I just have a hard time seeing it happen. UNC is a dominant offensive rebounding team, and even if Wake plays excellent initial defense, I worry that Carolina’s never ending supply of big men will be too much. I’m also extremely concerned about John Collins getting in foul trouble, as that could be the end for the Deacs. If Wake is going to win this game, then they are going to need Arians, Mitoglou, and Wilbekin to be draining triples. I hope like hell that I’m wrong.

Samurai: North Carolina wins 98-88

Much as I'd love the Deacs knocking off the Heels the night before my 30th birthday, I just don't see it happening. Don't really know what to say other than that they'll fight hard but it just won't be enough.
