How Wake Forest’s Opponents Performed in Week 1

A quick look at how Wake’s opponents fared in Week 1

NCAA Football: North Carolina Central at Duke Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

Each week Blogger So Dear will publish the results of every other team on Wake’s schedule from the current week. This allows readers to quickly and easily access what our opponents are doing as the Deacs aim for the all-important six win mark to make a bowl game (off to a good start with one win - five to go boys!):

Tulane: Lost to Wake Forest 7-3

Duke: Beat NCCU 49-6

Delaware: Beat Delaware State 56-14

Indiana: Beat Florida International 34-13

N.C. State: Beat W&M 48-14

Syracuse: Beat Colgate 33-7

Florida State: Beat Ole Miss 45-34

Army: Beat Temple 28-13

Virginia: Lost to Richmond 37-20 (ouch)

Louisville: Beat Charlotte 70-14 (also ouch)

Clemson: Beat Auburn 19-13

Boston College: Lost to Georgia Tech 17-14

Overall Opponents’ Season Record: 9-3 (including Tulane’s 0-1 start)

If you take out Wake Forest beating Tulane then the rest of the schedule went 9-2, with the only other FBS loss coming from Boston College to Georgia Tech (#TheRivalry). Army upset Temple despite being a 15 point underdog, so that makes a game that was seemingly a 90%+ chance to win a little less so guaranteed.

The good news is that UVA looked really bad against Richmond, so that may balance the two out a bit in terms of win percentage overall.
