Jamal Riggins, who was one of Wake Forest’s highest rated recruits in the 2017 recruiting class, has decommitted from the Demon Deacons. This news was first reported by Jon Santucci. What type of player did the Deacs lose?
Sebastian River LB Jamal Riggins (No. 2 @TCPalm Super 11) decommitted from #WakeForest this morning. @CNee247 #TCPrepZone @SG_Skools

Per @SRHS_SHARKS coach Kevin Pettis, LB Jamal Riggins wanted to explore his options. Picked up a lot of offers this spring. #TCPrepZone

Jamal Riggins is a consensus 3-star prospect out of Sebastian, Florida. He is 247 Sports’ 563rd best player overall, including the 26th best inside linebacker. He holds scholarship offers from Indiana, Michigan State, North Carolina, Mississippi State, and others.
Wake’s 2017 class is still strong at linebacker. Chase Monroe has several impressive offers, D.J. Taylor, Jeffery Burley, and others. Wake is still fine, but there’s no doubt that this is a big loss. Riggins is very athletic, and would have been able to play sideline to sideline, and been strong in pass coverage. The loss of Zack Wary due to retirement and the loss of Riggins due to decommitment will hurt Wake’s depth at the position moving forward, but the 2017 recruiting class is still strong.
