Evan Daniels of Scout.com reported on Tuesday that Nate Watson, one of Wake Forest’s 2017 recruiting targets, has trimmed his list to five and set up his visits. He has scheduled visits to North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Providence, Maryland, and Miami. Watson is a 4-star recruit, and is Scout.com’s 58th best player in the 2017 recruiting class. What are Wake’s chances of landing the big man out of Virginia?

In my opinion, Wake’s odds of landing Watson aren’t very promising. Of the five visits scheduled, the Wake Forest visit is the only one that isn’t an official visit. His plan is to take his official visit to NC State on August 22nd and August 23rd and then travel over to Winston-Salem the next day. It’s possible that visit goes well and he’ll ultimately schedule an official visit with Wake, but if a prospect isn’t willing to take an official visit to a school (schools cover all expenses on official visits) then it’s unlikely that the recruit will wind up at that school.
All 247 Sports Crystal Ball predictions currently have Watson choosing Maryland.
Watson would definitely be a “take” given that his talent is too great to pass up, but Wake Forest’s coaching staff is really focusing on wing players in the 2017 class.
