Wake Forest concludes its 2016 Bahamas Tour on Thursday at 7 p.m. when the Deacs take on the Real Deal Shockers. I can’t believe I’m writing a preview article about a team called the Real Deal Shockers, but here we are. Let’s break down what we should see in this “contest.”
Central Michigan, who finished just 156th in Ken Pom last season, obliterated this team 122-77 several days ago. I’ll be honest, there isn’t much about this team on the internet, but I would be SHOCKED (I am elite at dad jokes, folks) if Wake lost this one.
I won’t set the bar at 45, because that’s a little ridiculous, but I will say that anything less than 35 or 40 should be cause for concern. UCF beat them by just 10 points last year, but 2 years ago Morehead State beat them by 46. Arizona beat them by 70 in 2012, and Louisville beat them by 55 in 2011. Bottom line is don’t anyone tell you that this team is good. I’d tell you more about their current roster, but I don’t think that information exists.
With Wake’s outside shooting threats, and what should be a dominant presence inside, the Deacs just need to focus on limiting turnovers and playing better defense. If they can do that and convert on fast break opportunities, then they should win this one rolling away.
We will once again embed the live video stream of Wake’s game in this article. What are you all hoping to see in this one?
