The Wake Forest football program received some unfortunate news on Tuesday about a defensive tackle, but on Monday the Deacs added a nice piece for the future. Tyler Williams, a defensive tackle out of Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida, has committed to Wake Forest. He was originally committed to Florida Atlantic, and also had offers from Louisville, Minnesota, and Bowling Green.

Williams has official measurements of 6’0.5” and 296 pounds. While he is listed as only a 2-star recruit on 247 Sports, he does hold multiple Power Five offers, and performed very well at The Opening event in Miami. If you watch his highlights, you will see that he has pretty good quickness for his size.
Williams is Wake Forest’s 11th commit in the 2017 recruiting class. The addition of Williams brings Wake Forest’s recruiting class to 51st nationally, which is very similar to where it has been during Clawson’s tenure at the school.
