Wake Forest Football Recruiting: Chase Monroe Commits to Wake Forest

chase monroe Student Sports

Davidson Day continues to be a feeder school for the Wake Forest football program. On Saturday afternoon, Chase Monroe, a linebacker out of the aforementioned Davidson Day, verbally committed to Wake Forest. He chose the Demon Deacons over offers from Mississippi State, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

Monroe is a consensus 3-star prospect, and is the 22nd best inside linebacker in the country according to 247 Sports Composite. He was named 1st Team All-State and won a state championship in 2015, while recording 129 tackles and 2 interceptions. This is a major addition, and Wake Forest fans should be very excited about what Monroe can bring in the future.

Wake Forest is absolutely loading up on linebackers in the 2017 recruiting class. Monroe is the fifth linebacker in the class to commit to the Demon Deacons. Many of whom hold offers from other Power 5 schools. Wake Forest’s two-deep will lose a lot at linebacker over the next two years, so it’s important to bring the linebackers into the program now. Also, with the drop and rover positions, there is an opportunity for all of these guys to find playing time.

Wake Forest currently has the 46th best recruiting class in the country. If that result holds, it will be the highest rated recruiting class in school history. Welcome to the Deacs, Chase. You are going to be part of the #aWAKEning.
