The Wake Forest basketball program is in the mix for a 2017 power forward out of the Washington, D.C. area. Nate Watson, a 4-star big man who attends Bishop O’Connell, cut down his list of schools to 7, and Wake Forest made the cut. Wake joins a host of excellent programs, including Kansas, Maryland, North Carolina, Miami, NC State, and Providence. North Carolina, however, has yet to offer the big man.

Scout.com ranks Watson as the 58th best player in the 2017 recruiting class. While power forward/center is not an area of need for Wake Forest in this class, the addition of Watson would no doubt improve the overall quality of talent on Wake Forest’s roster.
Danny Manning offered Watson back in April, and Watson has continued to improve since. Six of seven experts on 247 Sports project that Watson will ultimately choose Maryland, but Watson is planning to take an unofficial visit to Wake Forest later this summer.
