The Wake Forest football program secured a commitment from a 2017 defensive back on Tuesday evening. Coby Davis, a cornerback out of Maret School in Washington, D.C., verbally committed to the Demon Deacons. He is 6’1”, 180-pounds, and 247 Sports ranks him as the 84th best cornerback in the class (3-star). He chose Wake Forest over Virginia, Navy, and Army. His primary recruiter was Adam Scheier, who is responsible for the DMV region.
#WakeFOrest landed a commit last night from CB Coby Davis out of DC. Athletic, long DB. Good hoops player. https://t.co/kBpPNhPFen

Coby is the 10th player in the 2017 recruiting class who has committed, and is the second cornerback. In addition to his size, Coby also has strong ball skills, and is able to assist in run support.
I would not be surprised to see Wake attempt to take a third corner in the class. Wake Forest is also hard after Jamar Richardson, Trey Creamer, and Tre Norwood. It may be that the next player to commit gets the spot, because it’s difficult to imagine Wake Forest taking four cornerbacks in what is expected to be a relatively small recruiting class.
Wake Forest's 2017 class really coming together with new addition of 3* DB Coby Davis. 247 sports now has Deacs at #47 in class rankings

Teams WF ranks above after Davis addition (47 overall): BC, Vandy, Cuse, UL, Stanford, Cal, WVU, UCLA, Mizzou, GT, and KSU. I'll take it
