The Wake Forest football program landed a major addition on Saturday evening. Taylor Powell, an excellent quarterback prospect out of Fayetteville, Arkansas, has verbally committed to play football at Wake Forest. What do we know about the heralded 2017 prospect?

Taylor Powell is a consensus 3-star prospect, who has scholarship offers from a number of Power 5 programs. He holds offers from Vanderbilt, Purdue, Maryland, Indiana, Illinois, and Washington State. Given that he was named the 2015 Arkansas Player of the Year, it's no surprise that he holds that many major offers. He put up ridiculous stats last season, as he threw for 3,594 yards and 49 touchdown passes, while completing 71% of his passes. He was also named MVP of the Elite 11 event in New Orleans.
Powell is the 2nd quarterback in the 2017 recruiting class to verbally commit to Wake Forest. Powell joins Tayvon Bowers, who committed last month. The quarterback position is in excellent shape moving forward. I'm very excited about the Powell commitment, and believe that he has an excellent chance to win the starting quarterback job in several years.
