Wake Forest Football Recruiting: Allan Rappleyea Commits to Wake Forest

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

The Wake Forest football program's 2017 recruiting class just got bigger. On Saturday night, the Demon Deacons secured the commitment of Allan Rappleyea. Rappleyea is a 6'5", 265-pounds offensive tackle who attends Milton Academy in Milton, Massachusetts. Wake Forest was the first Power Five school to offer him, but he recently picked up an offer from Syracuse. He also holds offers from excellent academic schools such as Harvard and Brown.

Allan is not rated by the major recruiting services, but does have good tape. While he will need to add weight, he has a frame that will allow him to do it with a college strength & conditioning program. His tape shows that he has good mobility, and can make blocks down the field. He also finishes plays and does not stop until he pushes the opposition into the ground.

The 2017 class will, in all likelihood, end up being the smallest class that Dave Clawson has signed at Wake Forest. The Deacs identified Rappleyea early, built a relationship, and then landed him. It should say something to Wake fans that Clawson and his staff think enough of Rappleyea to offer him given that this will be a small class.
