Cade Carney might not be signing his NLI today, but you don’t have to worry about him attending another school at the next level. That’s because he is already enrolled at Wake Forest, completing his high school credits at Davidson Day a semester early so he could get acclimated to campus and the program this spring. Prior to arriving on campus he gave his verbal commitment to the staff on June 19th and actively recruited multiple members of the 2016 class to Wake Forest as well.

Carney is rated by 247sports as the 54th best RB in the country and 40th best player in the state of North Carolina. He fielded offers from ECU, Georgia Tech, NC State, North Carolina, and South Carolina before choosing the Deacons last summer. There was never any real worry that Cade would sway from verbal over the last couple of months, particularly because he let his intentions be clear by getting the WFU seal tattooed to his shoulder shortly after committing. Check it out below. It's truly awesome.

In Carney’s senior season for Davidson Day he averaged 2 rushing TD’s per game and helped the Patriots finish with a perfect 12-0 record. Cade’s athleticism is likely his greatest attribute, earning the highest SPARQ score (127.65) of any player at #TheOpening Regional Event in Charlotte last year. To put that in perspective, the high for the ENTIRE 2016 class was 131.95 and Carney’s numbers were in the top 5% of all scores. I can see the staff using Carney out of the backfield next season, but also potentially in the slot as well given his good hands and agility.
You will have a chance to watch Carney play before next fall in the Spring Game and I personally can’t wait to see what the young man from Mocksville, NC can bring to the offense. Welcome, Cade!
