Per his Twitter account, Jamal Riggins has committed to the Wake Forest University football program. Riggins is a class of 2017 linebacker out of Sebastian, Florida, and is listed at 6'3", 210 pounds. He attended Wake Forest's Junior Day today, and picked the Deacs over the South Carolina Gamecocks. According to his 247 page, he had a VERY impressive list of offers, but the South Carolina one I was able to find outside of that page. He joins Christian Beal as the only other Wake Forest commit in the 2017 class.

Les Johns of Deacons Illustrated independently confirmed Riggins' tweet.

Riggins possesses a very good combination of size and athleticism. He has the range to cover sideline to sideline, and will help in pursuit of ball carriers. Given Wake's current situation at linebacker, Riggins has a good chance to play early on in his career at Wake. It's a position of need, and Riggins appears to be very talented. He is not currently ranked by 247 Sports or Rivals, but his offers speak volumes about his talent.
This is an excellent pick up for Wake. Obviously, there are nearly 12 months until 2017's National Signing Day, but Wake is off to an excellent start in 2017. The coaching staff has been able to identify players over the past several years, and will no longer be behind the eight-ball in terms of recruiting relationships. I also have to think that the new indoor facility will do wonders for the recruiting class. I anticipate that Wake Forest will really make strides on the field this fall, and that will also help the staff sell the vision of the program.
Please join me in welcoming Jamal to the Deacons!
