Wake Forest Suspends Ryan Anderson and Thomas Brown

The Deacs will be without two starters to begin the season.

Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports

Les Johns, publisher of Deacons Illustrated, reports that both Ryan Anderson and Thomas Brown will be suspended to begin the season. They are being suspended for a "violation of team rules." Anderson, a redshirt freshman, will be suspended for five games, while Brown, a junior, will only be suspended for the season-opener against Elon. This news comes just three days before preseason camp starts.

These losses are critical, as both were expected to be starters. Anderson was expected to be the team's starting center, while Brown was expected to start at safety. With Anderson out until the Boston College game, I anticipate that sophomore A'Lique Terry will start at center to begin the season. Terry started several games at center last year as a true freshman. Given how many reps Terry will earn at center, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was the starter for the remainder of the season. Brown is expected to start opposite Ryan Janvion at safety. This loss is less critical, as he will only miss the Elon game, and Wake Forest has more depth at safety.
