The Wake Forest football program received a verbal commitment from defensive end Emmanuel Walker. Les Johns of Deacons Illustrated reported this last night. Walker, is a 6'3" 225-pound defensive end out of Santee, South Carolina. He is a 3-star recruit, and his Rivals page indicates that he has offers from Georgia, Penn State, Tennessee, and North Carolina.

Walker is an impressive athlete, who has the chance to be a very good pass rusher for the Demon Deacons. He also has the versatility, as you can see from his Hudl video, to drop back into coverage. He is an ideal fit for the "drop" position in defensive coordinator Mike Elko's 4-2-5 scheme. He has good range and pursues the ball well. This appears to be an excellent pick up for the staff.
The football program continues to place an emphasis on recruiting the defensive line. Walker joins an impressive pair of defensive line commits in Zander Zimmer and Carlos Basham. The 2015 recruiting class also featured three defensive end signees, and the 2014 recruiting class featured four defensive end signees, and none of the four were committed prior to Clawson's arrival.
Clawson and his staff are doing an excellent job growing the talent level and building the Wake Forest football program. The Walker commitment is yet another example.
