Not to be outdone by his coaching counterpart in football Dave Clawson, it took Danny Manning less than 24 hours to land a recruit for the Hardwood Deacs. 2016 wing Richard Washington committed to Wake Forest on Saturday night while on an official visit in Winston-Salem.

Washington is a 6-5, 175 pound elite shooting wing out of Willamsburg, Virginia (Walsingham Academy). He is one of the fastest risers on the AAU circuit this year and Coach Manning has been on him from the beginning. This commitment makes me think that Kwe Parker is likely out of the equation. I have certainly been wrong before, but it seems that the staff has prioritized Washington since the spring.
This is a very good commitment for the 2016 class and it continues to build on critical players for the future. If one Harry Giles were to choose Wake Forest he would have a lot of good shooting around him as well.
Washington has a lot of length and can also shoot the basketball, so it will be very interesting to see where and how he fits in at Wake. He clearly has a lot of assets that Coach Manning likes, and should be able to be a versatile player in any lineup.
There are now three spots left in the 2016 recruiting class for the Deacs, with Eli Wright, Rodney Miller, and Harry Giles (and to a lesser extent Dennis Smith) being the main priorities.
Welcome to Wake Forest Richard!!!
