Moe Neal Chooses Syracuse Over Wake Forest

Wake Forest could not land its second commit in as many days.

Student Sports

Moe Neal, an all-purpose back out of Gastonia, North Carolina, has chosen the Syracuse Orange over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The 2016 recruit announced his decision today at Forestview High School. Neal is a consensus 3-star prospect, who is the 26th best athlete in the country, and 568th best overall player, according to 247's Composite Ratings. He was one of Wake Forest's top remaining targets, but unfortunately the Deacs could not land him. While I believe that Wake Forest is fine at slot receiver thanks to Tabari Hines, this is still a player the Wake coaching staff wanted.

Neal put up exceptional numbers during his junior campaign. He ran for 2,018 yards, while averaging 7.4 yards per carry, and had 29 rushing touchdowns. Neal also has great hands, and finished last season with 35 receptions for 549 yards and 9 touchdowns.

At the college level, Neal projects to be a player primarily designed to receive the ball in space. I anticipate him lining up primarily as a slot receiver, but he is also capable of playing in the backfield, and either rushing, or catching the ball out of the backfield.
