The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have added yet another defensive end to its 2016 recruiting class. Carlos Basham, a three-star prospect out of Roanoke, Virginia, who also held offers from Cincinnati, Maryland, and Pittsburgh, announced his decision on NBC 10 in Roanoke. He is a fast-rising prospect, mostly due to his performances at camps, as well as the 20 pounds he has added since last football season. He has added a total of 70 pounds since his freshman season.
Basham became the fourth defensive end in the 2016 recruiting class to commit to the Demon Deacons. He joins, Johnny Ray, Zander Zimmer, and LaRonde Liverpool. With Basham's 4.5 speed, he will bring versatility to the Demon Deacons' defense. He is an ideal candidate for the "drop" position in the 4-2-5 scheme. He can pass rush, but can also be disguised as a pass rusher, and drop into coverage. Wake Forest has made a concentrated effort to recruit both offensive and defensive lines over the past three recruiting classes. I expect those positions to be strong in the near future.
