Safety Lukas Masterson Commits to Wake Forest

Wake Forest has added another player to the 2016 class.

Lukas Masterson, a safety from Naples, Florida, has committed to play football at Wake Forest University. The commitment came just several days after receiving an offer. Masterson, who is listed at 6'2" 185 pounds, chose Wake Forest over offers from Iowa State, Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina. This commitment was first reported by Les Johns of Deacons Illustrated.

Masterson's best trait appears to be that he is a ball-hawking safety, who has the ability to make a big interception. Based on his film, he also has the ability to step into the box and provide additional run support. He visited Wake Forest last month and also attended Wake Forest's Friday Night Lights Camp. Clearly the coaching staff was impressed enough to extend him an offer.

Another Wake Forest safety target, Traveon Redd, is set to announce his college decision on Friday. Vanderbilt appears to be the current favorite. I still believe that despite the limited number of scholarships available, Wake Forest would accept Redd's commitment.
